Papercutting demo with Corinne Karnstädt

Corinne Karnstädt, a passionate Swiss paper cutting artist, embarked on her artistic journey in October 2008. Dynamic and always eager for new creations, she initiated herself into the art of paper cutting using a simple cutter. Quickly captivated by this form of expression, she created her first works, including “Mes Racines” (My Roots), a large round paper cut that marked the beginning of a series of artistic explorations.

Introduction

On reservation, the Pays-d’Enhaut Museum & Suisse Paper Cutting Centre proposes initiations.

Over the years, Corinne expanded her artistic horizon by creating wedding and birth announcements, allowing her boundless imagination to run free. Her exceptional talent was recognized in 2011 when she was invited to participate in the Montreux Art Gallery, a renowned contemporary art salon on the Riviera.

In 2013, she was selected for the first time at the Swiss Exhibition of Paper Cutting organized by the Swiss Paper Cutting Association. Her work “La Poya en 2012” was exhibited at the Museum of Pays d’Enhaut & Swiss Paper Cutting Centre in Château-d’Oex. Since then, her artistic journey has been enriched with numerous exhibitions and collaborations.

Corinne is not only a talented artist but also a dedicated educator. In 2014, with the support of the DiscoveryS Association of Pays d’Enhaut, she organized a three-month paper cutting course for ten students from the region, paving the way for the transmission of her knowledge.

Her work “Centre ville” was selected for the Swiss Exhibition of Paper Cutting in 2017, on the theme “Life in the City.” This recognition was followed by many other participations in prestigious exhibitions, including the Anniversary Exhibition of the Swiss Paper Cutting Association in 2015 and the Swiss Exhibition of Paper Cutting in 2021 with her piece “100% Swiss Feminine.”

In January 2023, Corinne Karnstädt joined the association of the Museum of Pays d’Enhaut & Swiss Paper Cutting Centre as the project manager. She is now responsible for organizing temporary paper cutting exhibitions, managing a collection of over 600 works from the Swiss Paper Cutting Association, and coordinating the paper cutting course program at the Swiss Paper Cutting Centre at the Museum.

Beyond her responsibilities, Corinne continues to enrich the world of paper cutting art. In the summer of 2023, she enthusiastically participated in the 7th Paper Cutting Days in Château-d’Oex, marking her ongoing commitment to the promotion and celebration of this unique art form.
